Grafted Growers Presents March 3-4 in Mississippi State Greenhouse Grower Short Course!

John Jackson is presenting on the benefits of grafted tomato plants and increased quality of those grown in controlled system agriculture.

Mississippi State Greenhouse Grower Short Course –

The next Greenhouse Tomato Short Course will be held at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center, 1500 Raymond Lake Road, Raymond, Mississippi on March 3 and 4, 2015. Expert speakers will present seminars on a variety of fields relevant to the production of greenhouse tomatoes.

Special topics this year will be components of the greenhouse system, greenhouse design and engineering, alternative heating options, marketing, budget for greenhouse growers, updates on the latest research, plant nutrition, alternative crops, water sanitation, and of course the pest management workshop, which will include physiological disorders, diagnosing plant problems, plant disease identification and control, and pest management.

Exhibitors from across the U.S. and Canada will be available to show you their products and discuss how to use them. All aspects of production will be thoroughly covered. Plan on attending this Short Course to learn all you need to know about this crop and run a successful greenhouse business. In recent years, the Short Course attracted participants from more than 25 states and several Caribbean and Latin American countries.

We’re going to the LED Symposium! Feb. 19-20, 2015

This symposium is organized by the University of Arizona Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) in conjunction with the USDA SCRI (Specialty Crop Research Initiative) LED project members from Purdue University, University of Arizona, Michigan State University, Rutgers University and industry partner Orbitec. The symposium will provide SCRI LED project members and other nationally recognized research groups the opportunity to bring the latest information, understanding, and assessments of the use of LEDs in horticulture through oral presentations

Three major topics covered in this symposium will be:
1. Plant responses under sole-source LED lighting,
2. Plant responses under supplemental (high intensity) or photoperiodic (low intensity) LED lighting in greenhouses, and
3. LED technology development, evaluation, and economics.
